Charms are a fun way to add some impact to your jewelry project. They can be a way to add a theme or a special message to your items. Many charms are brass core with plating on them.  Others are tin, antimony, copper, bismuth, and sometimes silver but in the past they used Lead as a component. They do not do that anymore because lead is harmful to your health so the modern charms do not contain lead.

Pewter is heavier and they add a nice feel to your jewelry. 

If you have a metal allergy most pewter is pretty safe to wear. Nickle is the metal that causes the most allergies.  

Cameos are acrylic or glass or a natural stone or shell.  All can be great additions for giving your jewelry a nice personal touch.
